Rivera pleaded guilty to the killing in 2022, and a judge sentenced him to 25 years in prison, authorities said.
Cancer is also accused of endangering the life of someone with a loaded pistol in July 2021, and possession of cocaine and other drugs in September 2023 and again in March 2024, the prosecutor said.
A judge ordered Cancer held without bail pending an application for release, the prosecutor said.
